October 16, 2016 – Nitroplus mascot Super Sonico celebrated her 10th Anniversary in Japan this week with several announcements and a special website.

In her first decade of representing the successful video game company, Super Sonico has been portrayed as a fashion model, university student, and aspiring musician (with her band FAV – First Astronomical Velocity). The theme of her 10th anniversary is “Now I’ll become an adult”, and the mascot has revealed a massive list of imagery and products highlighting her newfound maturity.

New additions to her popular series of 3D display figures have been announced for 2017, including a special “10th Anniversary Birthday” figure (designed by Tsuji Santa), a black-costumed figure based on T.M. Revolution’s “Hot Limit” music video, a “Wet Photo Session” figure based on artwork from her top-selling dakimakura (“love pillow”), and a “Wedding Super Sonico” figure, based on the 10th Anniversary website’s key image of Super Sonico in a revealing bridal gown.

February 12, 2016 – Nitroplus mascot Super Sonico has released a special edition downloadable image set for Valentine’s Day.

The brightly-colored image from Super Sonico wishes her fans a “Happy Valentine’s Day” and is available in various sizes for PCs and smartphones. The special wallpaper from regular Super Sonico illustrator Tsuji Santa is available for a limited time only from Super Sonico’s official website: http://supersonico.jp/download

Super Sonico debuted in 2006 at the Nitroplus game company’s annual music concert, “Nitro Super Sonic”. Super Sonico’s band First Astronomical Velocity recently released their albums on all international digital platforms last December as part of the activities leading up the celebration of her 10th anniversary in 2016. In addition, Sonico and her bandmates are featured in the Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel PS3/PS4 video game, and JAST USA has announced the English-language SoniComi Collector’s Edition to be released later this year.

Super Sonico’s Christmas song now streaming worldwide

December 21, 2015 – Super Sonico’s band First Astronomical Velocity’s Christmas song “Very Merry” is now streaming worldwide on Spotify and Google Play.

The uplifting song from the album Love & Peace Plus starts with the world-famous Nitroplus character mascot wishing fans “Happy Christmas” in English. With lyrics by Super Sonico and arrangement by Swinging Popsicle’s Hironobu Hirata, “Very Merry” is available from music download services worldwide.

First Astronomical Velocity (also known as FAV, or Daiichi Uchuu Sokudo) is a three-piece girls rock band who debuted in 2010 with “Superorbital”. The band has released 2 full albums and numerous singles including game themes for SoniComi (Communication with Sonico) and the recent anime series SoniAni: Super Sonico The Animation, including “Love The World,” “Sky Love Hurricane,” and “SUPERORBITAL”. Super Sonico is the 18-year-old Nitroplus mascot who debuted in 2006 as the mascot for the Japanese game company’s annual music festival Nitro Super Sonic. Sonico is a full-time student, part-time gravure model, and the guitar/vocalist for First Astronomical Velocity (FAV, or Daiichi Uchuu Sokudo).

Super Sonico lives alone with her five cats, and enjoys taking baths, playing video games and cooking Japanese food. Her favorite artists include Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Sonic Youth, Iggy and the Stooges, The Clash, and has recently developed an affection for Maximum the Hormone.

Super Sonico has been featured in numerous games, books, figures, and anime, and her official Twitter account has over 70,000 followers. Super Sonico also makes an appearance in the PS3/PS4 game Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel with her band mates (and cats) helping her in combat.
