A pair of Japan’s hardest rocking female musicians have teamed up for a new photobook titled CLOSSING ERY & miko.
ERY (bassist for KiLLKiLLS, Far East Phallus Kicker, Raglaia) and miko (guitarist, vocalist, and main songwriter for exist†trace) are close friends and active players in Tokyo’s rock scene. The artists posed for a series of elegant photos by renowned Japanese rock and fashion photographer Masanori Kato, who composed BOØWY’s famous silhouette portrait and has worked on projects with BUCK TICK, Gackt, DAIGO, LUNA SEA, and several others.
exist†trace knows how to rock Halloween. Performing an amazing 20-song set during their “IGU-day” (19th of the month) one-man concert, the five members of the all-female rock group launched straight into the fantastical, taking the stage in striking Alice in Wonderland-inspired costumes and sending the audience into the thick opening chords of “Wonderland”.
There’s a confidence and finesse to exist†trace after over a decade of performing together. Their onstage interaction is seamless, and the group is still as fierce and as hungry to move their audience as ever.
miko: “I think an essential part of being a band is finding a way to keep changing, to keep finding new things about ourselves and sharing them with our fans. But we also have to stay true to the fundamental parts of who we are. In the 19th Challenge concerts, we went in so many different directions with style and combinations of songs that we’ve never tried before. And yet I feel our core identity is stronger than ever.”
The band also announced their new song “POWER OF ONE” will be available as a free gift to fans who attend their next one-man live concert “SOLID STAR” at Shibuya O-Crest on April 7th.
Japanese rock band exist†trace packed all their favorite moments from “The 19th Challenge” concert series into the year’s final show at Ebisu club aim.
The December 19th “CLIMAX” event featured a massive set list showcasing the different themes of the monthly one-man series which began in April.
Japanese all-female visual kei band exist†trace performed the third show of their solo concert series at Ebisu Club Aim on June 19, titled “THE URGE BLUE”.
“The 19th Challenge” series is exist†trace’s 2017 project to connect them with their fans through extended live shows on the band’s special day, the 19th of each month.

Omi: “I made ‘Yoake no Hikari’ because I wanted to express my current feelings. However difficult the reality is or however deep the darkness is, the suffering or the wall can be overcome.”
What’s the theme at the center of Royal Straight Magic?
miko: “The title comes from a ‘royal straight’ in poker, and the feeling that happens when you draw that hand. It has a message to those who are hesitant to step forward: ‘If you take the next card, the next day may be like a miracle. So let’s go forward!'”

September 27, 2016 — Japanese all-female rock band exist†trace has announced the title and release date of their new album Royal Straight Magic, due for release November 16.
The six-song EP will be the follow-up to exist†trace’s March release This Is Now. Guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter miko explains the title represents the strength of their band’s combined strength. “When these five cards, the members of exist†trace, get together, we create the strongest hand, the best magic!” The theme of inner strength is central to the album’s concept. “Miracles do not just come to you when you wait for them. But, if you take a chance with your courage high, opportunities will always come to you. I want this album to give a strong push to people who are hesitating to step forward.”
exist†trace has also announced the “Survival March” tour in November, teaming up with popular rock groups BAND-MAID, Disqualia, Last May Jaguar, GALMET, and Soundwitch. The band will cap off the year with three straight one-man performances titled “Royal Straight Magical Show” in Osaka (December 17), Nagoya (December 18), and Tokyo (January 9).
“We’re already planning new things and fun surprises for our fans on this tour, even while we’re recording the songs for Royal Straight Magic,” miko said. “And we’ll continue to create moments together when we meet you at the live shows. Without a doubt, this will be a culmination of all our feelings from 2016. We’re going to make this a most special and magical time. We’ll wait for you to join us from overseas!”

Their next single, DIAMOND, was released in July 2013, followed by a worldwide digital release on iTunes, Amazon, and Spotify. Spiral Daisakusen was released in May 2014, and the band launched their international fan club ARCHANGEL DIAMOND the same month.
exist†trace released WORLD MAKER in September 2014, and spent the following year concentrating on touring and songwriting. The band released two “one-coin” singles in 2015, “Twin Wings” and “Shout Out”, available only at live shows in Japan and through Archangel Diamond. The 6-track mini-album THIS IS NOW was released in March 2016, which included “Neo Japanese Heroine”, the theme song for the Yahoo! Sports simulcast of the Japan Women’s Football League (Nadeshiko League).

July 19, 2016 — All-female rock band exist†trace will broadcast a live concert from Japan on July 28, 2016 at 8:30pm (Japan time). Fans worldwide can view the band’s performance with multi-camera views from Tokyo’s Future SEVEN live house by using smartphone apps available at the iTunes store.
June 27, 2016 — Japanese all-female rock band exist†trace has revealed a set of striking new photos to kick off their Japan tour dates for the second half of 2016. The band has been touring non-stop to promote their latest CD release THIS IS NOW, culminating in their one-man show “Blast Your Now” at Shibuya Eggman on June 26. Additional tour dates will take the band to major cities in Japan and culminate in a premium one-man show on January 9, 2017, at Shibuya TSUTAYA O-WEST.

Between Jyou’s screams, miko’s ever-impressive guitar work and sounds of shattering glass, exist†trace seem to be breaking the wall that constricts them within that melodic, death metal genre they were known for in their early days.”
February 13, 2016 — All-female Japanese rock band exist†trace has revealed the jacket image and track list for their upcoming mini-album THIS IS NOW, due for release on March 16.
The 6-song release contains two tracks, “Twin Wings” and “Shout Out”, which were previously available only at exist†trace live shows in Japan and through the band’s international fan club. The band has also updated their tour schedule to include “exist†trace present Attack to Nagoya – My Existence” on March 19 with guests BAND-MAID and sylph emew, and a one-man show “Attack to Nagoya – Extreme Stage” on March 20.
exist†trace will conclude their promotional tour for the new album with one-man shows titled “Blast Your Now” at Shibuya Eggman (Tokyo) on June 26 and Shinsaibashi Varon (Osaka) on July 9.

December 7, 2015 — Japanese all-girl rock band exist†trace announced a new untitled mini-album to be released next March, which will contain six songs. Two tracks, “Twin Wings” and “Shout Out”, were released earlier this year as “one-coin” (500 yen) singles exclusive to the band’s live shows and their international fan club, Archangel Diamond.
exist†trace has spent the past year focusing on multiple live shows and promotion events since the 2014 release of their album, World Maker. The band recently hosted a three-part collaboration series “My Existence” featuring guest artists DISACODE, LAST MAY JAGUAR, DELHEZI, FEAR FROM THE HATE, Sel’m, and defspiral. They will complete their current tour with the one-man show “Reason for the existence – Final Act” on December 26 at Shibuya Tsutaya O-West.

Archangel Diamond members were given the exclusive chance to send in questions to exist†trace and have them answered on video by the band members.
Submissions came in from members all over the world, and exist†trace members Jyou, miko, Mally, Omi, and Naoto chose their favorite questions for the video. They had so much fun that the video stretched to over 20 minutes and had to be split into 2 parts!
